Aura Hardware Specifications and Requirements
Minimum RAM Specifications
Standalone Stores: 8GB RAM
Combo Stores: 16GB RAM
To ensure reliable system performance, correct menu updates, and uninterrupted trading, all Aura POS servers are required to meet the applicable minimum hardware specification as outlined above.
These minimum specifications have been in place for many years and apply to all stores using Aura software. Please refer to the official hardware specification document below for full details.
Stores That Purchased Their Server From Us
These systems already meet or exceed the minimum hardware requirements and are fully supported.
Stores That Supplied Their Own Server
These stores accepted full responsibility for meeting the minimum hardware specification through the signed Remote Installation Indemnity Form.
Why This RAM Requirement Is Necessary
Modern Aura systems process:
Larger and more complex menus
Online ordering data
Promotions and pricing rules
Security services
Background system services
Servers that do not meet the required RAM specification (8GB for Standalone / 16GB for Combo) cannot reliably support these operations.
Risks of Operating Below the Minimum Specification
Operating on under-spec hardware may result in:
Failed menu downloads
Missing items or incorrect pricing
POS freezing or crashing
Online orders failing to sync
Trading interruptions during peak periods
Enforcement Policy
New menus and permanent Aura installations will not be supported on servers that do not meet the required minimum RAM specification.
In emergency situations only, we may temporarily assist to restore trading on under-spec hardware. This is strictly a short-term measure and does not remove the requirement to upgrade to:
8GB RAM for Standalone Stores, or
16GB RAM for Combo Stores
Upgrading your server to the correct minimum specification ensures:
Improved performance
Greater system stability
Faster and more reliable menu updates
Consistent online ordering and integrations
